Mini Cake

I just remembered it was safe to share this mini cake
photo with you that I made for a friend's birthday.
I want to stress that I am not a cake decorator
whatsoever I just wing it. I have found some
helpful tools as I go along.  One of them is an
icing sculpting set my hubby gave me for my
birthday. That's what I used to create the
ridges around main part of the cake.

To bake my cake I used an idea I borrowed from
pinterest where you bake mini cakes using food
cans you've saved.  For this cake I used a large
canned pear can and sprayed the inside with Pam
cooking spray and then filled it 3/4 the way full.

For the flavoring I used packets of crystal light
raspberry pink lemonade to flavor both the white
cake mix and the frosting.

Bootiful Halloween Magnets

hall-5
*Optional
Here's a fun and easy project to make and give as a party favor or for a hostess gift. A couple of projects ago I showed how to make a faux hand blown glass ornament (HERE) and in one of the steps I showed how I drained the excess 3D Crystal Lacquer I used into blank bottle caps.  Once the bottle caps were dry I put them away and saved them for a later project.  You know the old saying waste not want not....I mean after all 3D Crystal Lacquer doesn't grow on trees *wink*
hall-magnets1
Step 1: Gather your supplies--
For my 1" images I used some marked down Halloween stickers I had picked up after Halloween last year that I had stashed away.
hall-magnets2
Step 2:  apply a small amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer to the base of each bottle cap and add your 1" images or stickers to the center of the bottle cap, and  allow to dry.
hall-magnets3
Step 3: Once the images are adhered and dried inside your bottle caps fill each cap up with clear 3D Crystal Lacquer (use a toothpick or pin to pop any air bubbles you might have).  Set your bottle caps aside in a level, draft and dust free area.
hall-4
Step 4: Once your bottle caps are dry turn them over and  adhere your magnet to the bottom side of the cap using more 3D Crystal Lacquer.
hall-5b
Tin: Click HERE to see my previous project showing how I decorated another Halloween tin.  I first applied yellow and brown 3D Crystal Lacquer to the frontside of the clear window and allowed it to dry, level. Then on the front of the clear window I used rub-ons, and to give  the tree some dimension I used black 3D Crystal Lacquer over the rub-on tree.  Once the tree was dry I applied an even layer of clear 3D Crystal Lacquer over the entire clear window and rub-ons.  I also added  fun gem particles to the wet lacquer at the base of the tree and haunted house to give it some bling.

Here are the finished  Halloween magnets attached inside my tin by their magnets.

She was Bewitched!

BEWITCHED
Here's another Artist Trading Block I created for a
Holiday swap as I mentioned HERE previously.
I again used an image from OTM's
Halloween Collage Sheet 1 and a few other
images I had in my stash.  For the base I used an empty
ribbon spool that I painted and added mini dingleballs to.

Halloween Cookies

I baked my usual  holiday sugar cookies the other
day, and finally manged to get them decorated
today. I followed  Sweet Sugar Belle's frosting
recipe and tutorial on how to decorate cookies
using a piping and squeeze bottle technique.  I
didn't do too badly just need a bit more practice and
more squeeze bottles (it's so much easier this way!).

Holiday Artist Trading Blocks

I just finished up a couple of Artist Trading
Chubby Blocks for a holiday swap I'm in. On the
Halloween ATB I used a weathered block and misted
it with a combination of Tungsten Carbide and Sterling
Silver Color Mists  from the Molten Metals set. I really
love the dark shimmery look they gave the wood.
Next I used images from OTM's
gave them some dimension by adding
3D Crystal Lacquer over the images.
I also drilled a hole in the top and added a rusty
bent piece of wire I mounted through a skull bead
and then glued onto the block. I hung a key,
and some ribbons from the end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This ATB I made for a friend knowing she likes the color
combinations of  turquoise and red. I first adhered some
freebie images found online that I printed up, and then
added some DecoArt's Snow-Tex and while it was still
wet I sprinkled extra fine glitter dust. I then embedded
bells and beads into the wet snow and let it dry.  I also
adhered one of Sakura's Glass tiles over the words
on the front side of the block.  I love how the
glass tile magnified the words!
Again, I used push pins for the feet.
