Here's an up close shot where I used black 

gesso.  I think it has a sort of batik look to it.

Patina Petals

Patina PetalsI just love the copper patinaed look I achieved using the new Patina Collection Color Mist! Its a bit difficult to tell from the pictures but in person they have such a nice metallic glimmer to them.  Adding the copper washers and wire really adds to the real metal look I think.
Supplies Used:
Color Mists The Patina CollectionPaper FlowersCopper WashersCopper WireAdhesiveBeadsWire cuttersRound Nose PliersHeat Gun

First step is to mist your 

paper flowers

Don't be afraid to layer your colors

and spray heavily. Between each layer

use the heat gun to dry your flowers.

To really get a nice build up of

color I do this 4-5 times until

I get the desired look I want.

Once your flowers are completely

dry stack and glue them together

with your adhesive.

Cut about a 2.5" inch piece of

copper wire and bend it in half 

making a loop at the bent end.

Stack your copper washers and 

adhere them together.

Feed your wire threads through the

center of your flowers and the washers.

Thread the wire ends through a bead

and spiral each end using the pliers.

These would make great embellishments for your art, scrapbook pages, packages and more!

Create Canvas

Here's a fun canvas I finished up the other day.
I created the background using my new
Electrifying Neon Color Mists
hen used paint pens for the wording.

I created the background by layering the Neon Color Mists then allowing the colors to drip.  I would then let it drive for a bit on it's own and then finish drying with the heating gun.  After  a couple of layers I sprinkled salt over the wet Color Mists and allowed it to dry and then added more color and then dried again..once it was completely dry I brushed off most of the salt but some of it remained which I thought was great it added texture to the piece.  Once I was happy with my background I sealed it with PYMII before I added the lettering with the paint pens.

Tie-Dyed Deli Paper Backgrounds

Here are a few tie-dyed deli paper backgrounds I made the other day using my Color Mists. I had originally taken photos of my step by step process to show you, but my photo card bit the dust and I lost all the pics I took *sniff*

Example 1. I folded into a squares over and over again and then sprayed some Color Mists into a small plastic container and dip the edges in and then used a pipette to add color where it didn’t soak in. Example 2. I folded into triangles until it was completely folded small and dipped once again and then used the pipettes to add color as needed. Example 3. I gathered the deli paper into the middle and twisted until it was a completely twisted like twisty paper, and then applied the Color Mist with the pipette in sections. With all of them I used a heat gun to dry as I slowly unfolded them little by little…if some areas weren’t saturated enough I used the pipette to apply more color. Once the deli paper was completely dried I used chunky foam stamps and white gesso to stamp onto the deli paper.

After, I scanned each background into my computer and created fractal backgrounds using Paint Shop Pro.

Color Mists Fiber Necklace Tutorial!

Have I mentioned our upstairs bathroom leak fiasco a few weeks back? hmm...no....well due to that we are now in the middle of a bathroom shower redo (for those of you that don't remember I live in a 100 year old house), and nothing is ever easy when it comes to fixes of course everything goes according to plan and smooth as buttah! Needless to say there has been no time for art this week. I feel rather like I'm living in the middle of chaos or the eye of a storm for some odd reason LOL Thankfully my oldest son came up to help with the bathroom redo. Having to step around and over things worse then normal has definitely driven my creativity out the window....anyone know where it's landed?!?

Instead of art I worked on getting more of my tutorials I had posted on the old site uploaded to the new site..... one of my favorites is the Color Mist Fiber Necklace that Joanne Huffman created awhile back. Day of the Dead cometh early!

Day of the Dead cometh early!

I had some fun yesterday playing again creating some funky colored skull beads. The more I learn about El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) the more captivated I am by the bright colors and imagery used, as well as it's message. Check out my fun creative process below:

There are many ways you cancolor these skull beads, I chose to use my Color Mists and was amazed at how well they took them.

I next used the heat gun to dry the Color Mists slightly before I moved on to my next step...

In this next step I sprinkled lightly with extra fine Crystal Glitter Dust (this glitter is extra fine and should be added while the piece is still slightly wet. It will stick to the wet paint without having to use any adhesives). *Optional you can mist slightly again and then dry once more with the heat gun (avoid using your fingers to move the bead around use a pencil or end of a paint brush until piece is dry).

Once I was all done coloring my beads I sealed them with PYM II

Here's my finished beads! Hmm..now what do you do with them...I have lots of ideas running through my mind. Just for fun I couldn't resist making a wee Day of the Dead Fairy (check out my fairy tutorial to see how to make it substituting the bead used).

As for being really creative my friend Kris made some awesome neckwear using the colored skull beads. Only difference isn't a glitter queen like I am LOL
