I've been playing with my newest Color Mists' set called Mother Earth and came up with a faux marbled look using an 8x10 white pastel masonite board as a base, it seems to really take the color mists well. Before I added the collage to the board I sealed it with PYMII an acrylic sealer that I have been trying out and love, not only does it dry fast and durable it doesn't cause the Color Mists to run and has a pleasant odor (I also used PYMII on my Queen of Forgetful piece I previously posted). I'll have a tutorial up in a few days so you can see how easy it is to do yourself.
