Domino Necklaces
I'm busy getting ready for a small art walk show this week and I made these domino necklaces to sell using some of my recent whimsical drawings. I started out with pre-drilled blank dominoes then re sized my drawings, print them out and seal them with PYM II, cut them out and then added them to backgrounds and adhered those to the dominoes using a laminate adhesive. I added a tiny rhinestone or two to each of them for their necklace or earrings. Once they're completely dry I seal them with PYM II.

Practicing Drawing
I drew my latest 3 whimsical drawings last night and finished them up this morning. It really does come easier the more I draw.....there was a time when each pencil stroke was hard not knowing what to draw or being afraid to try to draw something like hands....I still don't love drawing those but I'm developing a style that I'm comfortable with. Two things that helped me were looking at magazines, books and catalogs. Then using them to practice drawing. Also having the right tools that work for YOU. Different people will have suggestions, but ultimately you need to try different tools until you find the ones that work for you...that goes for products as well!
I've found a plain ole mechanical pencil with a nice eraser works the best for me. Along with the Prisma Color art pens. The other thing that helped me was being given permission to erase...yep I know it sounds silly but it's true....its okay to erase and re draw something! :-)

A trail of Pictures!
Here’s some fun pictures I took today! All of my flowers are in full bloom since it’s been so hot. The technical name for these flowers are Carpobrotus spp. aka Pig Face, but I’ve always just known them as Ice Plants. They’re very common along our California highways and along the coast due to the fact they grow well warm sandy areas where water is limited. I love how vibrant they are. At night mine close up and then they re open when the sun shines on them. Aren’t they beautiful! | |
| |
Then today a big box arrived and I opened it and was thoroughly surprised to discover the coolest pillow ever inside! I feel so spoiled!! Doesn’t it look awesome on my porch swing! I immediately sealed it with PYM II so it wouldn’t fade or get ruined sitting out there with the sun and the weather. The fabric took the PYM very well and doesn’t feel stiff at all! |

Wonky Turtle Fairy!
Eolanda The Turtle Fairy
I'm pretty excited about my first attempt at drawing a fairy like this. Even though her leg is a bit wonky like it's made of rubber or something, and the wings turned out to look more like they're part turtle shell LOL I'm liking her :-)

Drawing is good Therapy!
I wanted to cry today when my son was putting my antique china away after using it at Easter and the shelf peg came out and everything crashed to the floor!! Having almost raised 3 boys (4 if you count hubby) its not the first time they've broken special dishes and cups though it has been awhile! I was good I bit my tongue and left the room while he cleaned up and did some drawing therapy!

Another Winner!
The tie's been broken for the Sorbet Collection Color Mist naming contest and the votes have been counted between Limoncello and Pineapple Chiffon and the winner is ::::insert fanfare and confetti:::
Pineapple Chiffon
It was pretty close there for awhile, and I have to admit I was leaning towards Limoncello after Beth mentioned the scene from Under the Tuscan Sun, but Pineapple Chiffon won out fair and square.
A big congrats to the additional winner!
