Patina Petals

Patina Petals
I just love the copper patinaed look I achieved using the new Patina Collection Color Mist! Its a bit difficult to tell from the pictures but in person they have such a nice metallic glimmer to them.  Adding the copper washers and wire really adds to the real metal look I think.

Supplies Used:

Color Mists The Patina Collection
Paper Flowers
Copper Washers
Copper Wire
Adhesive
Beads
Wire cutters
Round Nose Pliers
Heat Gun

First step is to mist your
paper flowers

Don't be afraid to layer your colors
and spray heavily. Between each layer
use the heat gun to dry your flowers.
To really get a nice build up of
color I do this 4-5 times until
I get the desired look I want.

Once your flowers are completely
dry stack and glue them together
with your adhesive.

Cut about a 2.5" inch piece of
copper wire and bend it in half
making a loop at the bent end.

Stack your copper washers and
adhere them together.

Feed your wire threads through the
center of your flowers and the washers.

Thread the wire ends through a bead
and spiral each end using the pliers.

These would make great
embellishments for your art,
scrapbook pages, packages
and more!

Bloomin' Buddies!

flrs

My beautiful tropical plant is blooming in all our wonderful (NOT) heat. I'm thrilled to see it blooming after nursing it through the cold part of winter by leaving a string of lights on to keep it warm.

Now that it's blooming imagine my surprise when I discovered my wee fairy flowers hanging around! They really seemed to be having a good time, don't they! I didn't let them see me as I quickly snapped some pictures!!

I even had some new ones arrive!

Gothic Joy!

Hey blogger friends I was hoping to have more art posted sooner, but you know how real life has a way of getting in the way, especially when chaos has a way of rearing it's crazy head the kids are home for the summer! The theme is still "anything goes" for the Gothic Arch Challenge while it's on a little break. Here's my entry for this week. I used deli paper and Color Mists for the background along with some rub-ons and of course I couldn't resist using more of my colored paper flowers . The bird I downloaded from the following wonderful site: http://www.thetoymaker.com/Holidays/Christmas/Christmas.html
if you haven't visited this site it's chockful of freebie templates!

After creating such beautifully colored paper flowers I just had to make something with them and since my fairy birdhouses were lonely I wanted an excuse I decided to create these wee fairies!

Put your own flourish on things...

goth-floursh2 This week's Gothic Arch challenge is Flourishes so in the process of making my challenge this week I got to thinking how the altered artist in me can't help but come out. I tend to look for things that are versatile where I can put my own flourish on things so to speak or alter it if you will to what I need at the time.

Recently I was gifted by my buddy Kris with some fun spryflrspaper flowers. Of course I couldn't just leave them as is so I misted them using my Color Mists using Copper Kettle , Monterey Bay and 22 karat gold . I then dried them with my heat gun and watched them puff back up which was very cool!

flowrsHere they are all dried .....if you click on the picture you might be able to see their shimmer.

Check out the paper beneath the flowers I sprayed paper them on, I thought it turned out very cool looking it will go in my stash to use later.

flowrs2 Next I decided to ink the edges with chalk inks (love chalk inks because they dry so quickly, I think they're would probably be one of those supplies for me that I wouldn't want to be without them, I use them that much!). I then added some rub-on flowers to the centers of the paper flowers. Along with the flowers I altered I also altered the chipboard letter "B" by adding inks and rub-ons and also the bird, it was originally light aqua and I used brown chalk inks on it to change it's color. So the moral of this long winded post is don't be afraid to add your own touch to embellishments.

Happy Altering!
