Holiday Artist Trading Blocks

I just finished up a couple of Artist Trading
Chubby Blocks for a holiday swap I'm in. On the
Halloween ATB I used a weathered block and misted
it with a combination of Tungsten Carbide and Sterling
Silver Color Mists  from the Molten Metals set. I really
love the dark shimmery look they gave the wood.
Next I used images from OTM's
gave them some dimension by adding
3D Crystal Lacquer over the images.
I also drilled a hole in the top and added a rusty
bent piece of wire I mounted through a skull bead
and then glued onto the block. I hung a key,
and some ribbons from the end.

This ATB I made for a friend knowing she likes the color
combinations of  turquoise and red. I first adhered some
freebie images found online that I printed up, and then
added some DecoArt's Snow-Tex and while it was still
wet I sprinkled extra fine glitter dust. I then embedded
bells and beads into the wet snow and let it dry.  I also
adhered one of Sakura's Glass tiles over the words
on the front side of the block.  I love how the
glass tile magnified the words!

Again, I used push pins for the feet.

It's my Party

I finished up another Birthday
the birthday cake inspired me
to create a party collage sheet
so you can make your own.

Here are both sides of the Chubby Block

For the base of the block, this
time  around, I used extra large
buttons stacked to make a pedestal

Taxi Queen ATB

Here's my newest Chubby Artist Trading Block
The theme is Queen and the image above is from Outside the Margin's 1950's collage sheet

The wheels actually roll...I found a toy car at the thrift store that was the right width and hubby kindly dismantled it for me and sawed grooves across the bottom of the block for the axles to fit in and then I used a heavy duty staple gun to keep the axles in place.

Birthday Chubby Artist Trading Block

Here's a birthday challenge chubby Artist Trading Block I added to.  Each person in the birthday chubby challenge started a block of their own and then sent it on to the next person to add to their block.  When the block finally makes it back around to the original owner of the block it will be in time for their birthday and they'll have their own ATB to put out and celebrate their birthday with
:-)
For Tipi's block I it arrived with burgundy paint and I scuff sanded it and dry brushed some red paint.  I then add the letters of her last name which happens to be LOVE and also added red glitter mini clothes pins for feet and a birthday candle on top.

Now it's on to the next person to add to it.

Birthday ATB Swap

Here's my newest Birthday chubby Artist
Trading Block I created the background by first
gessoing the ATB and then spritzing with my
neon Color Mists and drying with the heat gun.
Next I watered down some white gesso and
splattered it all over.
Now its ready to be sent to
the next person in our birthday swap and I will then
get it back in time for me to display for my birthday :-)

Washing & an Art Day

Yesterday my niece came over to have an art day and
to wash clothes. She made an Artist Trading Block
for her friend.
I joked with her that where else could she go to wash
clothes and do art at the same time LOL

Here's her Funky ATB, I
just loved how it turned out!

Bird For Sale

Here's my newest Bird ATB.  I had started this one awhile ago and had the background done on the front and back, and there it sat and sat because I just wasn't sure what else I wanted to do.  Typically if I don't push it something will come to me I just have to have patience which is not always easy LOL  The base is a broken handle hubby brought home to me awhile back and I kept finding myself setting the partially finished block on it and loved how it looked.  After painting the Cupcake ATB I really found I loved adding my hand paints on the blocks, thus the bird, tree and flowers I added. To finish it off the entire block was sealed with the PYM II's new formula which I love!
Here's a couple of more close ups
that you can click on to enlarge
This Bird ATB is actually FOR SALE if

Birthday Chubby Artist Trading Block

Birthday ATB
The block was first painted with gesso and then sprayed with Color Mists sprayable watercolors. After it was sealed with PYM II (I'm using their newest formula and it dries even faster then before!).  Next I painted the designs with acrylic paints. I know someone's going to ask me so I might as well share now the circle/dots were punched out of stripped sticker paper both the large dots and the small ones on the cupcake. The cherry I created using a wooden bead I cut in half.
