Welcome to the Peep Show!

I'm happy to say I've finished my shrine today!
Click  Here to view my process and read
my previous posts.

Here's a close up of the peep hole (click to enlarge) I created using a piece of copper pipe fitted into a bottle cap.  I drilled holes around the copper pipe so that some light would show through so you would be able to see the picture inside a little better.

*Some have asked what is inside the peep hole and I had thought maybe the enlarged picture would show but not well enough..it's a picture of a sun and flowers from a mini tarot deck card set.

What I'm working on...part 2

Previously I posted what I was working
on (click HERE to view).  I thought I'd give
you a little sneak peek before it's completely
finished.  I used soft glossy gel medium to
adhere the wallpaper to the box.  I
normally don't like glossy but on
this I felt it needed it.

Here's another little peek at
what's yet to come...maybe!
stay tuned!

What I'm working on...

shrine
This is what I'm working on currently.  I've started with a Crafty Chica shrine I picked up on sale about a year ago.  I've begun by spraying it with my Color Mists --they really take to natural wood nicely, like a stain almost, yet without the mess of a stain.
I had some Anaglypta wallpaper that was in one of my erosion bundles , so I decided to give my box a embossed faux metal look. Again, I used my Color Mists to give the wallpaper an aged and patinaed look. View my process below:

e-metal5 e-metal7 e-metal8
e-metal8a I first cut out the wallpaper ahead of time so I'd have a medallion and a tile shape.  Next I used the following Color Mists on them: Tiger's Eye Brown, Copper Kettle, Emerald Isle Green, Tungsten Carbide.  I dried them with the heat gun and then sprayed again until I achieved the look I liked.  Then I rubbed the raised areas over a brown Staz on stamp pad.  Next I added a brad to the center medallion. e-metal9

Steampunk Light Switch Cover RR

I'm working on getting projects finished today.  First on the list was 4 switch plates for the Steampunk Outlet/Switch Plate Round Robin I'm hosting.  Above are hubby's plates where he had first added the copper tubing on each and the thermometer...I then added a gear mechanism from gutted gauges on each of them (they each have an arm that moves up and down) by drilling holes and learning to thread the hole and then adding a brass screw to each mechanism plus a little Lock Tight to hold them on.

Next were Jean's plates.  Hubby added the copper pipe on the right plate and the copper pounded braiding on the left plate.  I added the gear on the right plate and the chain hanging down.  I also added another chain on the left plate  by drilling holes and attaching it with screws and a washers.

Now they're all ready to go on to the next person for them to work on.

Zucchini Cheddar Cheese Bread Recipe Card

(Thanks to a blog visitor that brought it to my attention
I have revised my recipe card-I had left off ingredients, sorry everyone!)
Freebie Recipe Card
We had an abundance of zucchini from our garden already so I shocked my family with some whole wheat zucchini cheddar cheese bread! I changed it up some by using whole wheat and flax seed.  You can adapt it to your liking as well.

*Click on the recipe card above, then right click
and save to your computer, then locate and  print it out.

Fabulous Thirft Store Find

Today we checked out our local *good* thrift store and found several treasures, but the one I'm so excited about is the above jean jacket that I found that actually fit me!  Since January I've lost 48 lbs on Weight Watchers.  I've been looking forward to being able to find things in my size at the thrift store.  This jacket is Sooo ME  and I am still doing the happy dance that I found something I love and that fits me Whoohoo!!
