Challenge

This is another piece I created using glossy photo paper which I am loving! I have two huge stacks of it that came free with some ink and I don't print out individual pictures so I'm happy to have found a great use for it. It's the perfect postcard size and takes the Color Mists well!

So This morning I created this by only using things I had out on my work space I'm not overly thrilled with it but figure its not bad for 10 mins work. I think I would have been more happy if I used other wording that I wanted to use but I was staying with my challenge of only using what I had in front of me. The background was created with a light mist of Tahoe Turquoise Color Mists and the Punchinella used as a stencil. Then I stamped with Gesso (hey it was on my work area) and then I added the images that were there from something else I was going to use them for but changed my mind on. I also used the new chalk inks on the edges. This piece took me about 10 mins to make just from bits and pieces.

My challenge to you is to try using just what's in front of you on your work surface and see what you come up with.

Leave a comment and your email (you must leave your email) and I'll enter you in a drawing for this piece and send it to you.

Pretty Treasures!

  2. I am currently doing a swap where we can only use scraps-so the overflowing box I have on my desk is what I can use. I cannot use any other papers. I can use inks and I always keep Tim Holtz
Distress inks in a tin on my desk. I also keep black detail ink and embossing powders, crystal glitter, a jumble of satin ribbon and corner punches-but I dont punch corners with them, I scallop with them. I just got a triangle punch to try to zig zag with too but that is another story. I have to make up kits with a finished product and enough for the recipients to make some cards like mine or similar or totally defferent.this is fun and it forces me to think about what I have right in front of me too.

  3. Aileen! This is just awesome! And what a great idea to use what's right in front of you on your work space. I would need a 12" x 12" piece of paper to use all the stuff on my table!

  7. Aileen, this is a fun idea. Your piece is lovely. Remember, the ten minutes it took is ten minutes, plus all the years of being an artist.

  8. What fun! I like your challenge and your card. I have been challenging myself to use my scraps to make ATC's but this takes it one step further. I shall try it this weekend. Thanks Aileen!

  10. This is great Aileen! But since I've cleaned my studio so much, I couldn't even participate because I now have clean tables! There are no supplies out! LOL! OK, so there really is a first time for everything! LOVE the peice though! I'm gonna' have to give in, at some point, and get those color mists since Fran raves about them so much... as well as everyone else!

  13. Since I just spent 1 1/2 weeks re-organizing my studio, I actually have a clear workspace! Not for long though! I like your 10 min. or less creation! I especially like the no-thinking, just do it aspect! LOL! Cindy

  14. This is an amazing piece of work. I may take you up on the challenge if I can find 10 minutes of spare time. Can I play on your work table? Mine's too messy. Which I guess might be a good thing for this challenge.

  15. This is absolutely gorgeous, Aileen! If I take you up on the challenge, can I come do it using your work table? The only color on mine is one lone green Twinkling H2O pot and a container of white gesso!

  17. Thanks Aileen for breaking into my boring day of laundry and ironing. You created a stunning piece in 10 minutes and I actually sat down and created an ATC out of a box on my desk of leftovers from many various projects. My family will have wrinkled laundy but I had fun.

  18. Ooohhhh As usual, you've come up with something WoNdErFuL!! I'm so impressed! I can't believe you did that from things in front of you and in 10 min...Since I have a pile of melted M&Ms mixed with some Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (don't ask - a "gift" from my daughter), do I have to use those? LOL Thanks for sharing!
